Hotly tipped newcomers GANS are again with a bang with the funked up electronica of It’s Simply Life, one other taster from their upcoming album Good For The Soul. Boss man John Robb was already on the case again in March right here and if what I’ve heard already is something to go by, you’re in for a romping deal with! Learn on…

Birmingham newcomers GANS are asserting the discharge of their debut album GOOD FOR THE SOUL, on September nineteenth through Peter Doherty’s Strap Originals label. Produced by Ross Orton (Arctic Monkeys, Amyl & The Sniffers, The Fall, Working Males’s Membership), new single ‘IT’S JUST LIFE’ is out as we speak and streaming all over the place now. It follows current single ‘I THINK I LIKE YOU’ which landed on the BBC 6 Music playlist.

For GANS, a duo of borderless noise-makers with depth on the core of what they do, it’s the world round them, and particularly their upbringing, that roots them of their sound. Rising up in working class areas of the Black Nation to folks who labored in factories and mills has helped outline an strategy that seeks to merge uneasy realism with horizon-chasing escapism.

Throughout their upcoming debut album GOOD FOR THE SOUL, the band tackles topics of acceptance, self-destruction, and physique picture. Knowledgeable by a shared love of portray, literature, and poetry specifically, GANS is the place all of those ideas coalesce, within the hive-mind of songwriters Euan Woodman (drums, vocals) and Thomas Rhodes (bass, vocals). On new single ‘IT’S JUST LIFE’, the pair considers how the race to fulfil ourselves can turn out to be futile if we don’t confront the problems inside us first.

Drummer and vocalist Euan Woodman expands: “IT’S JUST LIFE is about that feeling all of us have – the everlasting chase for the grass being greener on the opposite facet. And it isn’t, it doesn’t matter what we do it all the time comes again to the identical previous sh*t of residing in our minds and having to cope with all of it, irrespective of the place we find yourself on the planet. That’s simply life isn’t it.”

Persevering with concerning the album, he says: “GOOD FOR THE SOUL was the final word journey for us. You’ve your complete life to write down a debut report and that is ours. 24 years of life distilled by means of noises and vibrations. We went to the Welsh countryside in December 2024 to write down the report. We employed a cottage for 10 days, armed ourselves with sufficient meals, booze, weed and music to take heed to that might preserve us impressed, and we wrote about 15/16 songs. It was an idyllic place with a bit of brook flowing within the backyard – all very Led Zeppelin.

We then took these songs to Ross Orton who had produced ‘IN TIME’ and ‘I THINK I LIKE YOU’ with us already.

We began recording with him within the first week of January 2025 so it was all super-fast. model new songs we liked and Ross was nice to work with, he impressed us and challenged us. He’s a little bit of a nutter – however that’s kinda what we like, we prefer to be round attention-grabbing characters. After 3 weeks in Sheffield we had a report executed.”
