The Orb announce new album Buddhist Hipsters forward of UK tour

Pioneers of ambient home, The Orb have introduced particulars of their new album Buddhist Hipsters.

Helmed by Alex Paterson, partnered by Michael Rendall, Buddhist Hipsters options visitor appearances from Roger Eno, Steve Hillage, Miquette Giraudy, Youth, Paul Ferguson, Andy Falconer, Eric Von Skywalker, Rrome Alone, Violeta Vicci and Andy Cain.

Alex stated: “I used to be having a dream, and on this dream was an escalator descending out of the clouds, upon which have been Buddhists and hipsters travelling downwards, and beckoning me down from the highest, was Roger Eno. Once I awoke, I had a textual content from him, asking if we fancied extra collabs, so he’s on the file, amongst different buddies.

“Recording the album and enjoying current gigs have been comfy, completely happy, and therapeutic experiences, largely as a result of Michael Rendall, who’s a genius that picks up something he turns his hand to. We’ve a beautiful, simpatico relationship on file and on stage. Total, the size, arc, and vitality of Buddhist Hipsters vitality mirrors one our followers’ faves, U.F.Orb.”

One of many first tracks to emerge from the album, is new single Arabebonics. The title of the Japanese-influenced hip-hop monitor is a phrase invented by rapper Rrome Alone, who offers vocals and is supported by extra strings from Violeta Vicci.

Cerebral Escapism

Buddhist Hipsters opens with Spontaneously Combust that includes Steve Hillage’s unmistakeable guitar, Miquette Giraudy on classic EMS synth.
